Hello Chaps!

How did you know what I was wearing?

I was thinking the other month how it'd be lovely to have a meet for us all,
past, present and future, who have posted here once the WoT series is over.
We'd need to arrange it a few months after the release of the final book, so
we'd all have read it, and in a neutral country (Belgium perhaps), that's
good for us all, considering we're from all over the world.

Sounds good. We've been trying to meet you for years. But apparently
coming to Glasgow from Manchester was too much work, when we came from
Finland.

We'll see how it goes in the next couple of years, my borther might be
moving to the UK.

Are we expecting the next book in 2011 or 2012?

What do you guys think? As for where, well it's bound to be a pain for
some, but by arranging it in good time, people can save and plan for the
meet! Obviously we'd need to know when the book's released...so that may
make it harder. But still, it's something to think about!

I really doubt we're going to get any Americans if we host it anywhere
else in the world, which is what I meant by minimal investment. And I
wouldn't even be against going to America for a visit, except for the
fact that if it's this year the baby is going to be a difficulty, and
I don't want to go through US Customs. Ever. Especially not if they
take DNA and fingerprints and things. Fuck those guys.

And I wouldn't even be against going to America for a visit, except for the
fact that if it's this year the baby is going to be a difficulty, and

They've got things going badly enough at the moment that a lot of USAns don't
want to either. Not to mention how screwed up even interstate flying is here
these days.

I think it may well take more than just you to ensure it's in the USA!
You'll have to get more folks on board! I don't know where would be the
best bet...We have some from Australia and New Zealand...I'm not sure about
the chap from South Africa if he is still bothered...also, I don't know if
anyone is still in touch with the Non-UK Europeans....

I think it may well take more than just you to ensure it's in the USA!

Well it's good for me! I think the main problem is that the group has
past the peak days of 10 years ago, so the momentum probably isn't
there, which is a shame. So getting the Americans on board is going to
be even harder.

Even drugs probably won't pull them in!

yes...it should be...I'm not sure that there's the momentum as there
was, which is a shame. I think, like you always say, Facebook is to
blame for that. Or just the growth of the internet in general, as back
in the day, there wasn't as much to do on it as there is now. Also, the
newness of the internet meant it was far more novel to write in places
like this.

Oh, I should probably answer this. I don't have any problem meeting
people. As Chucky mentioned, we had them visit us in a foreign country
where only Janica spoke the language, and nothing bad happened.

Most of them just won't be very likely to want to leave America. They
just don't see the point. I don't know, maybe Aaron can explain it
better (and less offensively towards Americans).

I should go through my Bestiary, see what names we can come up with.
Then get on the Monkeyhouse Facebook page and start plugging. It would
be nice if they could come back to the group, but I have accepted that
they are giant lame bastards.

Sure, I can explain it. We're cheap bastards, and it's too expensive
to fly out of country.

That'll do it. Same as it's cheap enough for us to fly 'most anywhere
in Europe, but getting to America ... actually it's also fairly cheap,
what was it, a couple of hundred euros to get to New York?

Maybe they just don't do cheap flights the other way around.

It's still the Customs issue I'm most concerned about when it comes to
flying into America, though.

I went to the US about 2 years ago and had no trouble at all in
customs. Stitch has had one bad experience a few years ago, but just
because he had the misfortune to run into an officious oaf, that can
happen anywhere in the world.

Dont try the UK. We went over from Finland with an Aussie mate, and
while me and my finnish friend walked easily through the customs, my
friend with the australian passport spent the better half of an hour
there explaining his reason for coming. And this was John Lennon
airport, not London or anything.

Both Amsterdam and the US (if it's in the Tampa area) are potentially
do-able for me. Stitch travels to both for work a couple of times a
year so I occasionally get to hop along with him, but I don't know If
I actually want to meet any of you :p

things interesting, but actually just decide better of it. Even they
knew it wasn't worth the effort to get involved in the book!
